Spain is our core market, but our search projects are not limited to a single country. Akens\Nordburg works with international companies on Executive Search and recruitment assignments that, in selected cases, extend beyond Spain. When the mandate, market and our experience fit, we undertake selected international search projects in other European markets.

Spain as our core market, international scope when the project requires it

The hiring needs of an international company do not always organise themselves neatly country by country.

The same client may need to fill a position in Spain and later search for a specialist in another European market. In other cases, the relevant candidate population may be distributed across several countries or the mandate may require a specific combination of experience, language and sector knowledge.

In those situations, we can support the project beyond our core market when there is a strong fit between the client's need and our search capabilities.

The market changes from one country to another

A position that is relatively accessible in one market may be much more difficult in another.

Candidate availability, compensation levels, professional titles, seniority expectations, languages, mobility and, in some functions, regulatory requirements all vary. An international project therefore cannot be reduced to moving the same job description from one country to another.

Depending on the mandate, we use Market Calibration, Market Mapping and Direct Search to understand how the relevant market behaves before concentrating the search.

Switzerland — Renewable Energy

Specialist searches linked to the development of wind-energy projects in Switzerland.

These included a Wind Energy Project Developer with responsibility for project development, permitting, land negotiations and coordination with authorities and other stakeholders, as well as an Environmental Project Manager focused on environmental planning, impact studies and regulatory processes.

The assignments combined sector knowledge, technical experience and an understanding of the Swiss regulatory environment.

Ireland — Finance & Controlling

Search for a Business Controller in Dublin for an international group, with responsibility for financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and support to operational management.

Spain & DACH

Our experience is particularly deep between Spain and Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH).

That axis forms a natural part of many of our projects: headquarters in one country, a local organisation in another, different market conditions and candidates who need to operate effectively across both environments.
